Petition Letter
Petition Letter: A bicycle crash in fall 2016 left me with a critically injured leg, resulting in temporary loss of walking and working ability. This spiralled a series of events which left me financially burdened, something I am still struggling to catchup with.
Without a job and without employment insurance, I turned to the government for financial assistance (aka welfare). A requirement for me to accept financial assistance was that I should not be in school for any considerable amount of time. After consulting with the ministry, they advised dropping one of my courses in order to meet eligibility standards.
Conflicted with the mental, physical, and financial stress of my situation, I decided to drop LIBS 100. I was already doing well in the other course I was taking, WRIT 250, and justified that a business writing course could help improve my immediate employment situation. I completed the course with an A.
Now I am arranging payment with Queen's for my outstanding monies owed, and am requesting to be refunded the amount I was billed for LIBS 100. Your support and empathy are appreciated.
