Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Fafali Ahadzi and I am currently a third year student majoring in biology with psychology as my minor. I am requesting that my ANAT315 course is dropped passed the academic deadline. This is because my performance in the course was affected by extenuating circumstances, and I do not believe that my final grade reflects my work and the progress I have made thus far as a student.

I started off the semester really strong, and I felt as though it was going to be my best semester yet. During the fall 2017 semester, I began struggling with my academics due to extenuating circumstances, and I was unable to attend the lectures for ANAT315. I was gradually getting ill and I lost strength, which made it impossible for me to continue with my studies. It became increasingly difficult for me to concentrate in class, and that extended to other areas of my daily life. I was able to complete the assignments of my other courses, but due to the nature of ANAT315, I was not able to attend tests and exams because I was absent during lectures and labs.

I decided to seek medical help from the La Salle clinic, and I was soon given a diagnosis and prescribed medication. Even after being prescribed medication around week 5, the side effects made it tough for me to be physically active, eat, sleep, and participate in my normal daily routines. I was placed on trial for a number of different medications until my doctor prescribed one that my body did not adversely react to.

Around week 11, the medication began taking effect, but by then it was too late to redeem myself as I had missed out on valuable information provided in class.

I am writing to you today with the hope that you will consider my situation and assist me by granting my appeal. I plan on taking ANAT315 again next year, as I really enjoyed the material I learned prior to falling ill. Thank you in advance for your consideration, and I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Fafali Ahadzi
