Petition Letter: Hello,

My name is Danielle Sawula, I am a third year biology student planning to apply to vet school in September. Currently I have all of my requirements except for one, which is Biochemistry. I am currently taking a Biochemistry course (BCHM 270), but after I submitted my courses to see if they were approved to the Ontario Veterinary College, they declined my selection based on their 60/40 rule. This rule states that once you reach third year, you must be taking 60 of your course load in third year and above courses, and the remaining 40 being whichever you choose. I had submitted this course last year to make sure it fit the requirements, and they did approve it, but I didn¿¿t realize this rule existed.
I am hoping to switch into BIOL 334 (Comparative Biochemistry) and switch out of BCHM 270. This class has been approved by OVC basing off my current semester. I know it is already quite a bit into the semester, but I have only missed a minor quiz in BIOL 334 and the material matches up pretty well in my current class, to Comparative Biochemistry.
However, OVC requires me to finish all my prerequisites before I apply in September, which I only have one more left. As well, I was told that I could take an online Biochemistry at Athabasca University. However, if I was to add it to my work load currently, I still would not meet this 60/40 rule. If I was to take the biochemistry credit in the summer, I would have to take a full course load, consisting of five other classes for them to accept it.
I¿¿m kind of in a terrible spot. I know I can catch up in 334 because the material is very similar, and I have also taken Organic Chemistry, which has some overlapping information as well. I hope you can help me out with this matter and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
