Petition Letter: Hello,
I am requesting to be able to drop my Stats 263 course due to my father's death which has put my assignments well behind. My father went into the hospital on Feb 24th and passed on Feb 26th. The funeral was on March 2nd. As this was the last day to drop classes, I had not even looked at the website for almost a week and missed the deadline.
He had been ailing for a while before the hospitalization. With all that was going on with his care, then arranging the funeral, etc, I feel that I have fallen too far behind in my STATs course to be able to catch up and be successful. The other class I am taking is a bit less intensive and I will be able to catch up and be ok with that one.
If I could have this class dropped and not affect my academic standing that would be the best situation.
