Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
My name is Jordan Di Nardo and I am writing you to receive credits for KNPE 367 and KNPE 261 rather than grades, taken in Fall 2017. The reason I am appealing these courses is because I feel that my grades are not an adequate representation of my abilities. During the 2017 Queen¿¿s Women¿¿s Rugby season, I unfortunately tore my meniscus. My normal surgeon was planning his retirement and managed to fit me in for surgery on November 15th, 2017, giving me a weeks¿¿ notice to prepare both physically and mentally for surgery. After surgery, I was given a week of recovery, and then a week to catch up on my school work before my next surgery. I get severely ill multiple times a year, and at a doctor¿¿s suggestion, I was scheduled to get my tonsils out on November 29th, 2017. I opted for a costlier surgery with the promise of a shorter and less painful recovery time, which did not end up being the case. I ended up needing a second prescription of medication due to the inflammation and pain.
Due to the stress on my body, I then developed a spot, which was seen by many doctors before deciding a biopsy was necessary. With my mind focusing on the thought of cancer and all the pain I was in, studying was not on the top of my list of worries. I had not received my results before I had written the final for 261 and opted out of writing the final for 367 as to attempted to reduce the stress on my mind and body. I considered pushing the exams, but if the results had come back positive, I wouldn¿¿t have written them anyways as I would have likely been in treatment.
I know that is a lot to read through, so for your ease, here is a timeline:
- November 15th ¿¿ Knee surgery
- November 29th ¿¿ Tonsil surgery
- December 6tth + - I¿¿m not sure when exactly the biopsy was, but I met the doctor who performed it on this day, the biopsy was a few days after that
- December 23th ¿¿ it was at least 2 weeks post biopsy when the results came back
Attached is my documentation regarding proof of surgery for my knee as well as my tonsils. Also, a note written by my family doctor addressed to the ER which she had me go directly to after my appointment regarding the spot. I have been attempting to get in contact with the doctor who performed the biopsy, but she has not been available to take my calls as of right now. I am working on further documentation for this case.
