Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am appealing to drop out of all 5 of my courses for the 2018 winter term, as I have been diagnosed with acute anxiety and am finding it impossible to continue my studies. I get a lot of panic attacks during the day, which make it difficult for me to breathe and cause me to start shivering. I also have several breakdowns throughout the day. Due to this problem, I have not been able to attend my classes since March 3rd, 2018 and will not be able to do so until I am cured. I am also not able to focus on my coursework at all and constantly feel like everything is falling apart. This is really affecting my academic performance, as I am not able to study for tests or complete any assignments. I have missed a lot of classes, and have fallen very behind on my studies as the panic attacks have been very severe, hence I will not be able to attend classes for the rest of this term. The 5 courses that I am taking are - PHYS 239, PHYS 250, PHYS 212, MATH 225, and CLST 214.
The cause for my panic attacks is still unknown, and I have an appointment with the psychiatrist on the 21st of March. I have visited the hospital twice already and have to visit the doctor every week. I have tried several times to make an attempt to catch up on and complete my assigned course work, however it has only resulted in failure each time, causing me to get more panic attacks due to the stress. Due to this, I have taken the decision to drop out of my courses altogether and continue my studies once I am feeling better and the anxiety and panic attacks have gone away. I won't be able to attend any of my classes and will not be able to write my final examinations either, considering the severeness of my condition. If I do not drop my courses, it will have a negative impact on my overall academic performance and lower my GPA, due to conditions which I have no control over.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: In order to succeed in my future studies, I am planning to take the next year off of university so that I can take a break and think over what exactly I want to major in, and if Physics really is the right choice for me. I am also frequently visiting my doctor and have an appointment booked with a psychiatrist. My doctor has put me on medications, which I am to take until I am fully recovered. The year off will also allow me to have more control on my thoughts, and spend time with my family, which will help me deal with the loneliness I feel. If I decide to continue majoring in physics, then I will re-take the required courses in the year that I come back to continue my studies, otherwise I will switch my major and make a fresh start.
