Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Dean,
I am submitting this appeal as a plead for your permission to drop PSYCH 380 (Advance perception) and PSYCH 231 (Personality Psychology); therefore, leaving me PSYCH 333 as my sole course for this winter semester.
My mental health has always been something I something that I have trouble managing, even as a young child, where my primary coping mechanism was to just focus on completing each day and reminding myself that I'm a little closer to my goals. I'm naturally a person that loves to learn and contribute in class and can at least respect the knowledge that is being shared with me. I would consider these traits a fundamental part of who I am, but I seem to be stuck in a depressive state which makes it harder to concentrate, to stay motivated, to remember, to stay energized and to complete assignments. Hence, since the beginning of this winter semester, when I started to feel this way, I had difficulty organizing myself causing me to fall behind in all of my classes and hindering my ability to reach my own standards. Thus these academic difficulties influenced my mental health, even more, causing me to feel dazed and very fatigued, which started to affect my attendance in all my classes. I decide, with the counsel of my accessibility adviser (Bonney Hunt), my new counsellor (Allison LaVigne), my occupational therapist (Tess Grant) and a academic advisor (Lori), that I am withdrawing a little bit from my academics to focus on developing healthy coping skills, and implement routine into my life. I hope by focusing on my mental health I will be more able to create a scaffold, daily routine and plan that is more appropriate for my needs, and come back in the fall a more balanced person. I plan to finish my PSYCH 333 because it's my favourite class and is the only thing I look forward too since I find the content gripping and I adore the Dr Pukall, even though I am struggling to keep up with the course. I also plan on continue seeing my team of professionals at Student Wellness since I realize how crucial they are to my success
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my appeal and I would really appreciate your support.
