Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern,

I am appealing to drop GPHY247/POLS 385. I have attempted to maintain my course load throughout this term, but am unable to do so any longer. I currently am taking 6 courses and have struggled to stay up to date in all of them. In order to meet my obligations for these classes, I inevitably had to neglect one course, which happens to be the one I am appealing to drop. As I have taken it upon myself to travel home to London nearly every weekend to care for my mother, I have been pressured with managing even greater responsibilities. My energies have balanced with speaking to my mother daily and providing her with the mental security to carry on with battling breast cancer. It has been emotionally exhausting for myself to care for my mother and I have struggles continuing my work because of it.
I had full intentions of graduating in the Spring, but will not be able to do so because of this course I am appealing to drop. I was deluded in thinking that it was possible to complete all 6 courses to the best of my abilities and care for my mother during this semester. At the very least, I will take the stats course in the summer and be at home with mom. Mom and I agreed that I would finish this last year despite her illness. I intend next year to be by her side and postpone my graduate education. Her health and mental well-being has been and will always be my priority. The medical documentation will validate my appeal.

Best Regards,
Timothy Wilson.
