Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am writing to appeal the one term requirement or credit standing in regards to my grade performance in fall of 2016. I lost a very close friend of mine that October in the midst of midterms, and missed approximately a week of school. As I requested extensions on assignments and midterms and my profs were very understanding, I thought I had done everything I was able to do. However, I was not able to study while I was home and continued to have a hard time when I returned as I was grieving. Had I known that I was eligible for an appeal process, I would have taken action immediately. I did not realize I had options which would reflect the extenuating circumstances on my transcript. As soon as someone had informed me that there were actions that could be taken, I immediately made an appointment with an academic advisor to discuss what I could do. I request that my late actions do not impact the appeal process, as I was unaware that I was eligible until this past week.
