Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Dr. Jill Atkinson,

I am appealing to drop Econ 222 and Econ 348.

The reason for my appeal is that am struggling with mental health issues and a learning disability which have been increasingly getting worse since the beginning of this term. These extenuating circumstances have impacted my ability to attend class and complete assignments and perform well on tests and midterms. I was hopeful that I would be able to continue in these courses on March 2 ( the last day to drop), but my issues continued to get worse.

I have been attending bi-weekly appointments with my Physician on campus since January. I have been seeing a therapist in the community on a regular base. I am currently seeking the care of a Psychiatrist. I have met with my Accessibility Advisor a couple of times during this term seeking help from that office.

In future, I will continue to seek help from a medical professional and a Psychologist. Next term I plan on taking a lighter course load.

Thank you for considering my appeal as I am really hoping to continue my studies in the fall when I have my health condition better under control.
