Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To: Associate Dean, Faculty of Arts and Science

Dear Sir/Ms.,

I am writing this letter to have courses GRMN 100 (Fall 2017) and PSYC 203 (Winter 2016) considered for credit to replace their current grade standing. That PSYC 215 (Winter 2018) be dropped from my transcript and to request that I be considered for aegrotat credit for course PSYC 271 (Fall 2017).
Over the past 3 years I have been fighting a losing battle with mental health and it has put an obvious and heavy toll on my schooling. I was diagnosed with a bipolar disorder as well as an anxiety disorder, both are being treated with medication and therapy, the bipolar disorder remaining at bay but my anxiety only got worse over the last 18 months. I find the most challenging thing, through the 4 years that I have been here, is not being able to pursue what I love. I came here with a plan and a reason, I chose psychology because I love it and learning about it isn¿¿t work to me. Unfortunately, since I have been dealing with my mental health issues, everything is hard work and I am left really disappointed with myself for not having been able to accomplish anything. I came into the fall semester a little refreshed but I quickly tripped up and didn¿¿t quite catch my feet until this semester. However, in catching my feet I bit off a little more than I could chew.
Last semester I deferred my final exams to possibly do better given some time to get my head-space cleared. I wrote one of the finals at the beginning of the winter semester and I have completed that course, with credit. I am scheduled to write another one of the exams on Monday the 16th, and I expect to also complete that course. I have been trying to remain proactive in my communication and requests with the school and my professors, most of the time being able to find a mutually satisfying compromise.
I realize my appeal asks for a lot of little changes and considering¿¿s, the only reason I am doing so in the hopes that I will be able to graduate this semester. I believe that graduating would be the best thing for me right now, and if you allow it then I will have completed enough credits to have officially accomplished something here at Queen¿¿s.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for any further information or if there are any questions regarding my requests.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
Kind regards,
Jamie-Lee Deschenes
