Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am appealing to waive the requirement to withdraw for one year due to the same circumstances that I described in my appeal to waive the 21-day deadline. First of all, I understand that it is my responsibility as a student to adhere to the grade expectations, however there are a couple reasons as to why I really want another chance at doing first year correctly. During my first year, I was dealing with what I think to have been situational depression, a result of isolation on west campus and my actual first year experience clashing with what I thought my first year would be like at the university I grew up wanting to go to. Through the great help of my mother, I was able to sort out many of my issues and eventually started to work hard on catching up with all the responsibilities I had regretfully overlooked, scholarly and otherwise. I feel that through this tough mental ordeal, I have matured significantly as a person. Now that I will be living at home this year as a Kingston native, I believe that I can start on the path I truly want in music, leaving politics behind me. Although I don¿¿t look to retake my politics course, I want to retake Astronomy, Film, and Music history. Now that I am in a much healthier mental state, I believe I can do exceedingly well in these not only to replace my old grades and fix my GPA but to also prove to myself that I can overcome difficulties such as my depression in first year.
Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I intend to register to retake Astronomy, Film, and Music history in order to replace the fails I have gotten. I also want to leave politics behind me, as I discovered in my first year that it was not my passion, and that music was. Having familiarized myself with academic advising, I'm well prepared to begin my plan to graduate with a BAH in music. Since I will be living at home in Kingston with my mother, I can fully focus and stay motivated on my studies without the issues of isolation, depression, and learning about living alone that I experienced in first year. These issues that affected my academia in my first year at Queen's have been addressed and dealt with, and have been practicing my music theory as well as playing over the course of the summer, anxious to pursue what is definitely my strongest subject, in a university setting.

Amendment to Appeal 4877
Relevant Petition: 4877
New Information: In my previously sent appeal (the one to waive the 21-day deadline) I had asked mental health counselor Freeman Woolnough to include documentation of my visit to his office in the fall. I emailed him again to see if he would mind sending it again for this, but said you would likely still have it.
