Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Faculty of Arts and Science, I am looking to appeal a course, specifically drop the course past the deadline due to extenuating circumstances beyond my control. To specify, I was in the process of getting a proper medication balance and was currently going through a difficult time weaning off my stimulant medication for ADD type symptoms. I was sleeping excessively and unable to concentrate on anything for quite some time let alone a university level course. It was a difficult adjustment that I underwent and I feel it made succeeding and even passing this course a difficult challenge in the summer. I had gone off the medication based on a doctor's recommendation and although I feel better now, it took some time to regain my mental equilibrium and just feel normal again. I was on the medication for the entire school year prior so it was a lengthy adjustment period. This was all at the beginning of the term and I instantly fell behind and was not in a great state to play catch up unfortunately. I have spoken with a couple of Doctors and they have since condoned my actions of getting off the medication and support my reasoning for an appeal.
