Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Sir/Madam,

Please allow me to drop my listed courses and obtain a full refund as I have unable to participate in any of them since registration. I currently live in Nairobi, Kenya with my husband who is on assignment here. I have been quite ill over the last few months, and doctors here have been unable to determine the cause of my malaise. Because of this, I had to travel back to Alberta last month in order to do a series of bloodwork as recommended by my physician. I am now back in Kenya, and have just been informed that I missed the deadline to drop my courses by a few days. I am scheduled to travel back to Canada in December for another two weeks to follow up on additional screening and treatment.

Please understand that it was not my intention to neglect my courses, as I was very eager to get back into my studies. I am particularly interested in learning more on the topic of Global Development having spent the last four years in Africa. I am elated that Queen's University gives the the opportunity to study from my location and I intend to fully engage myself once my condition has been successfully treated.

I ask for your consideration on this matter and hope that you will grant my request.
