Subject: Appeal for Late Course Drop

Dear Dr. Johanne Bénard,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am appealing to drop FREN394 (Fall, 2018). In October, before the deadline to drop a course without academic penalty, I tried to drop the course through SOLUS and was under the impression that the action was completed. Hence, I did not go to any of the remaining classes or do any of the course work after mid-October. The reason why I dropped the course was because I do not need it in my academic plan, and I discovered in the initial classes and onQ work that I do not have an interest in the topic of this course (Montreal Interculturel). I am not sure what happened on SOLUS that did not process the dropped course, or if I made a mistake somewhere unaware, but I was quite certain that I submitted the request and reached the confirmation page (with the green check mark beside ¿¿dropped course¿).

In late November, I logged into SOLUS to check my financial account (I received an email about getting refunded the credit I had there and wanted to see if that transaction was recorded in both my SOLUS account and bank account), and saw that FREN394 was still in my class schedule. I then emailed the professor for that course to see if that information was still reflected in his own class list. We were both under the impression that I had dropped the course, but my name is still in his list. He suggested that, since I had missed all the class times and assignments because of this misunderstanding, I should submit an appeal. I will attach to this letter the contents of those emails.

If this course were to remain in my student records, this would severely affect my GPA negatively. I really hope it is possible for the school to drop this course from my account. In my academic plan, I only have one 3.0 credit course left to graduate and move on to Final Year of Concurrent Education. I do not wish for this course to bring down my GPA for my French medial for going into Final Year.
