Re: Monica Ferneyhough - Late Drop Appeal
Dear Madam/Sir,
I am appealing to drop the course DEVS 240 - Culture and Development CDS F18. At the beginning of the course, I experienced some extenuating circumstances that were beyond my control. These circumstances are employment related and I have been involved in an ongoing investigation that has forced me to take some time away from my academic and personal commitments. On October 1st, I began seeing a health care professional who is helping me cope mentally with the negative effects this circumstance has had on me. As noted on the supporting document from my mental health counsellor, we have met on four occasions for assessment and psychotherapy sessions, rooted in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Narrative Therapy. This therapy is temporary, and I am hoping that the investigation is resolved in the early new year, depending on the results of the findings.
During the height of the employment related investigation, I was working on my mid-term. My efforts in trying to keep up with school, work, and family commitments became overwhelming and I did not have the ability to complete any major assignments in DEVS-240. Since I have no way of making up for missed assignments for this course, I would like to drop it at this time and plan to re-take it when it is next available in 2019. This is course is valuable and mandatory for my degree and I look forward to being able to devote more time to it.
Thanking you in advance for your consideration,
Monica Ferneyhough
