Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am appealing the grades of three essays that occured in the fall term after a death in my family. One of these was a 40 final paper in the course ENGL 431, taught by Professor Christopher Fanning. Another was a 20 essay in ENGL 360 by Professor Evans, and then a peer review and fall term essay ENGL 321 by Professor weinberg. At this time there was a death in my family which has caused lasting greif, as well as many trips to the United States visiting the sick relative up until his death and then proceeding to help with the funeral, which has severly impacted my work. This all occured during a time where I was having severe kidney problems and was constantly in the hospital due to not having an answer to why the problems were occcuring, through thes unforseen circumstances I would also like to appeal my participation in these courses. I am prepared to give a doctors note upon request if nesssecary. Despite this death and these health issues, I have been proceeding through the term trying my absolute best. I do think that this paper deserved a much higher grade then was given.I beileve that this paper would have been given a higher grade if read over by someone else, keeping in mind the difficult time of the papers due date. His passing occured on October 1st, while these paper were due in the months following in my time of grieving. Though I am still effected by the event I now have therapy appointments multiple times a month in order to help attendence and anxiety around teachers for my late realtive was a professor as well.
