Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Within the past month I shifted my academic focuses for graduate school. I have decided to apply to programs in the field of population and global health. I would like to take GNDS 380 to aid in my understanding of reproductive health within Indigenous populations. I was unable to switch into GNDS 380 prior to January 18th, 2019, because I felt the need to take courses with the field of life/health sciences to stay within my field of study. I was initially going to apply to research based graduate programs within the field of biomedicine, I have had a change of heart. Now that I have decided to apply to graduate programs that combine health sciences and the humanities, I want to take GNDS 380 to gain insight into Indigenous studies. My decision to switch into GNDS 380 motivated by my desire to ready myself for graduate school as well as participate in courses that I am interested in. Thank you for taking the time to review my case.
Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I will start attending lecture on Thursday, January 24th, 2019, and therefore I will not have missed any lecture content since the add/drop date. I also have developed an academic relationship with Dr. Lawford because I have been her student before. As her prior student, I understand the level of academic participation that Dr. Lawford expects within her classes. Additionally, I will complete all assignments and readings that I have missed once admitted into the course and given access to the course via OnQ. These missed reading and assignments will be completed prior to lecture, once I am enrolled into the course. Additionally, I will remove a course from my current schedule to ensure that I able to accomplish all assigned work. I am motivated to study the content in GNDS 380, which will make me an excellent candidate to take this course. Thank you for taking the time to review my case.
