Petition Letter: Hello,

I would like to appeal my SOCY 211, 275 and 276 grades.

In summer of 2014, I enrolled and traveled to the Bader International Study Centre for a term, but I had been feeling increasingly weak and lethargic for an extremely long period. It had been so gradual that I had not even noticed, but when I arrived there, I was bedridden by the end of the week. I was unable to keep food or water down from Friday till Tuesday while quarantined, and was hospitalised on Tuesday for two weeks. It was in the hospital that I was informed that I had been operating undiagnosed with a very slow onset condition called Addison's Disease and just experienced a life-threatening emergency called an Addisonian crisis.

This condition is the result of operating with increasingly low levels of critical steroids, the lack of which left me lethargic and unable to apply myself. This had been affecting my academic performance for an extended period. I'm sure it will be extremely obvious by looking at my grades as to how much they changed before and after May of 2014.

Take SOCY 211 as a prime indicator, I received a D+ in that course, but after I received medication, in POLS 400 (another statistics course that year), I received an A-.

The only reason I didn't appeal these earlier is because I did not think anyone would be looking that far back in my grades, and believed it was unreasonable to judge me when I was barely alive when my performance so obviously improved afterwards. However, this is not the case, and I would like to contest them to indicate that I should not be hampered while I was operating on life-threatening levels of steroids.

I heartily recommend asking the BISC, my endocrinologist, and looking at the grades themselves.
