Petition Letter
Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I am writing to request that I may be re-enrolled into the course BIOL343 (Advanced Data Analysis for Biologists).
I have been enrolled in this course for 6 weeks and dropped it online last Thursday, February 14. I originally intended to drop the course because I am completing my 4th year Honour¿¿s Thesis (BIOL537) this semester, and BIOL343 was taking a lot of time that I would rather be putting into my thesis work. I believed that I did not require the course based off my Academic Requirements planner, as it did not show up in any of the required courses to complete a Biology Degree. Soon after dropping the course however, I realized that the course counted towards my 120 units that I need to graduate on time.
I immediately contacted the course coordinator, Dr. Christopher Eckert, and then contacted Julie French, the head of the Biology Department, who informed me that I needed to complete this formal appeal as it was past the Add date for course enrollment.
I am hoping that I may be added back into the course so that I will be able to graduate on time this spring. As well, I am planning to start my Master¿¿s at Queen¿¿s in May, and hope that I can be added back into the course so that I do not have to change these plans. As I have already completed 6 weeks of course work, I strongly believe that I can still do well in this class should I be re-enrolled.
Overall, this has been an incredibly poor decision on my part, and I feel terrible about this situation. I am sincerely hoping that one poor decision in 4 years of hard work will not delay my graduation time and post graduate plans.
Thank you in advance for considering my appeal and I look forward to hearing from you.
Best,
Jessie Reynolds

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: Should I be re-enrolled in BIOL343, I will continue to complete all course work and attend all lectures and tutorials. I only just dropped the course last Thursday so I have not missed any lectures or course material due to this situation, and thus I do not have any missed course material that I need to catch up on.
