Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Hi, I am a second year Chemistry student and I am requesting to drop one of my elective courses, LATN 110. I did not drop before the deadline because although it has been a very difficult course, I had a second though that I might be able to overcome. I realised that I was a little over ambitious and miscalculated my potential outcomes of staying in the course. The course is only becoming more difficult especially with my currently ongoing immigration process including paper works and preparation for the citizenship test. I am also currently involved in a hiring process for a job at ARC: the job which would help me pay the tuition and other fees next year. The standards are very high and the process is multi-staged, thus a significant amount of time is spent on the preparation. I assure you that all these personal matters will be taken care of by April when I complete the citizenship test and am offered the position at the ARC. My academic standing may appear weak at this point, but one of my greatest talents is that I am very steady and always finish the race. This has been prevalent throughout my high school academics and during my competitive swimming career. I do not give up and I can make an exponential improvement by the end of next winter.
My plan to effectively overcome my overall academic performance is to re-take three of my core courses including MATH 112 this summer semester and CHEM 211 and 212 in the following fall semester. I am confident that I will be able to make a great comeback on all these courses since I have now fully digested all the course materials and I am continuing to review them weekly. I also began attending Student Academic Success Services (SASS) to further obtain efficient study tactics.
I thank enormously for your understanding and I look forward to hearing from you.
