Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To the Associate Dean (Studies):

I am appealing for permission to study abroad independently at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem on a Letter of Permission for the winter semester of my 3rd year of undergraduate studies (the Winter 2015 semester).

I believe studying abroad will allow me to widen my outlook. The Rothberg International School at the Hebrew University offers a broad range of courses, many of which are perfectly suited to my interests as well as my academic plan at Queen's. The courses will complement my background in psychology and allow me to expand on my Hebrew skills, while also enabling me to learn about topics unique to the region.

I am aware of the degree requirements of my PSYC-M-BAH plan, and after speaking with the undergraduate chair of psychology at Queen's, Prof. Atkinson, I have verified that I am on track to finish my plan upon my return to Queen's in my 4th year (regardless of whether or not I take transferrable upper year psychology courses while abroad). I have received Prof. Atkinson's support to study abroad at the Hebrew University.

I am confident that I will be able to succeed while studying abroad; my academic achievements thus far have given me confidence in my abilities, and I look forward to expanding my knowledge.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Jenna Glicksman

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: To the Associate Dean (Studies):

I am on track to complete my PSYC-M-BAH plan in my 4th year of studies upon my return to Queen's, allowing me to graduate on time in 2016.

After the completion of the Fall 2014 semester, I will have completed the majority of the plan. I will only have eight 3.0 unit courses left to complete my plan, which can be easily achieved in my 4th year alone (requiring four courses in psychology in each semester of my 4th year, leaving room for one elective each semester). In addition, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem offers a few transferrable upper year psychology courses, meaning that I can complete even more of my plan requirements in the Winter 2015 semester, leaving more room for electives in my 4th year. Whether I take the transferrable psychology courses while abroad or not, I am confident in my capacity to complete my plan and in my ability to do so while maintaining my current high GPA.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Jenna Glicksman
