Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: This past year, I have been dealing with major depressive disorder. Coming into the fall term of my third year of Queens, I thought that being a part time student in my ninth month of my depression would be a good idea. However, this semester has been particularly difficult for me in that my illness has prevented me from attending classes as my immune system has been incredibly low and therefore I have been very ill. My dizzy spells have forced me to leave class and be sick, go to the doctors straight from class and spend days in bed missing classes and getting very behind. I have talked extensively with my professor, who has been very understanding and positive throughout this entire process and she believes this is the right move for me as well as my doctors and my parents. Although this has been a tough decision, I have decided to put health first and take the rest of this semester to get my health back on track.

This is an appeal to drop the course and waive the 21 day appeal deadline.
