Petition Letter
Petition Letter: During the course of the 2019 Winter semester, confidential extenuating circumstances occurred that impacted my ability to complete a major assignment for HLTH-333, worth 35 of my final grade. Due to this major setback I predict to pass the course with a very low grade or to not pass at all. I believe the best course of action now is to withdraw from the course.
I am also appealing to study abroad on during my fourth year. I have been nominated by Dr.Emily Hill for a bilateral inter-departmental exchange to Fudan University for the Fall and Winter semester of 2019/2020. Fudan has accepted the nomination and I have been making the appropriate preparations. Going on this exchange will not impact my graduation by more than one semester. I had previously planned to return for a fifth year, so having to return for the fall semester will not be a problem.
I believe this exchange will be an incredible opportunity for personal and academic growth. I hope to foster intercultural competency, improve language acquisition skills, and gain a better understanding of the sociopolitical factors that have shape China. This exchange will be an opportunity to study at one of the top universities in the world and allow me the opportunity for self discovery as an adopted person from China. I have also gone throughout he process to apply for a Chinese Government Scholarship, which I have a very good chance of receiving.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: The course HTLH-333 is a supplementary course to my Health Studies degree, therefore I could not take the course as a personal interest course (PIC), where my final mark would be a pass or fail. I plan to take fine arts course this summer during May and June that is worth the same 3.0 credits. Additionally, I plan to take a full course load at Fudan University next Fall/Winter of 2019/2020 and return to Queens in the Fall of 2020 to complete a 400 level compulsory course (that I am not able to take a Fudan or online). Withdrawing from HLTH-333 with not cause additional delays in graduation.
