Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am asking to drop ARTH 120 and MATH 110 from 2018 fall term to 2019 winter term because I have mental health problems. When I came to Queen's in the summer of 2017 for QBridge Program, I was able to focus on my study and pass the language courses successfully. However I got really upset and anxious in the next 2 year.In the first year I dropped and failed on my most courses like PSYC 100 and ECON 110 because I was too low to attend my classes. Courses were not very difficult for me but I was too depressed and scared to do social activities and stay in the crowd. I only attended about a half of my classes in that year. I just passed MATH 126 with B since I was good at math and had a strong math basis from my high school lessons. The worst time began that winter vocation. I couldn't keep my normal diet and sleep. I felt very bad about both my mental health and physical health during those days. Then I tried making an appointment with a counsellor in last March or April but I finally called it off. In last summer I came back to my hometown and stayed with my family. That made me feel better so I added a writing course and finished it successfully. In the beginning of the first term of this year I was able to attend most of my classes. But I gradually got deeply depressed again later. For the last one or two months of last term, I stopped going outside and attending my classes unless the test came. And this term I missed all my classes for my mental health problems. Before I met my psychologist counsellor, I stopped eating again. I did not talk with anyone except my family members. Fortunately I did not give up to return to my normal life, so I pushed my to make an new appointment and see the kind doctor in March, although I felt I was going to collapse during the waiting time.
After meeting Dr. Khanna a few times, I began to return health life step by step. I know it is not easy to get rid of my mental health problem, but I realize that there are some people supporting me to return to a happy person and good student by our talking. Meanwhile I strongly want to return my good life as before. So we begin to plan for the future. I have pushed myself to see more people and started a dairy recently. In the next year, if the appeal goes well, I will repeat my courses to improve my GPA and become a good student.
Thank you for reading.
