Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Associated Dean Staff:

I am one of the undergraduate students in Class of 2021. This request is responsible for dropping one course which is called Math 212.

For the last three weeks, I feel so depressed because the large amount of reviewing work and my compulsory course is very difficult for me. I already suffer from the mental disorder and the insomnia for these three weeks. Every night, I should try to sleep by using hypnotics. For all the night, I just threw out for all the night and felt so weak that lead to a fever and headache in the morning. In this way, I write the academic consideration for delaying the Math 212 final exam. Also, I contact my professor for writing the make-up exam on September. However, this professor said that his status is really unstable in Queens and he may not be out of Queens at the end of this term. In this way, we are very hard to arrange the exam time in September and he recommend me to appeal to late drop this course. However, I felt so weak until this time. Furthermore, due to the serious physical conditions and the overwhelmed work, my mental disorder already become more serious than before. I just felt so confused for the reviewing problem and have no idea for that trouble. In this way, for today, I went to the Faculty of art and science and to see the academic advisor Kerri Andrews and Student Wellness Service to meet the personal counsellor Allison to discuss about that. Before March 1st, I just felt very good for this course and I achieve even 95+ in every assignment. However, three weeks ago, due to some of my family conditions and I just felt so hard to concentrate and my grades were affected. However, at that time, I almost finish the total percentage of the French and Writing course assignment at that time and I even do not worry about these courses and Econ255 is my compulsory course and this is hard for me and I need to keep the large concentrate on that. In this way, I just hope your staff to grant me to drop this course because my mental disorder is very serious at this time and I need to adjust that as soon as I can and pay off for the Econ 255 reviewing work.

I know the deadline already passed, but I still think I need to withdraw that. Firstly, this course is not my compulsory course and it is one of my elective courses. Recently, my physical conditions and psychological conditions are really bad and I think I should try my best to maintain a good standing for my majority course (Econ 255). This course is a 200 level course and it is really difficult for me. For this reason, my midterm exam score is not very good, so I think I need to try my best to get a good score in order to pass the C- for this course because this course is my compulsory course and I need to achieve a C- in order to get a degree program. In this way, it is really hard to attend exam in September. Also, I talked with the professor, it is a little bit hard to arrange an appropriate time before the deadline for posting the grades because his status in Queen¿¿s has some issues and he may not in Queens for the next term. In this way, after we discussing, dropping this course should be the best option for us.

I am so sorry for providing troubles for you to help me drop that course, please give me a chance to do that. Because this is my first time to apply that request and that term¿¿s GPA is really important for my rest of learning plans, I can promise that avoid to that mistakes in the future. Please give me a chance, thank you.
