Dear Dr. Jenn Stephenson,

Re: Request for Medical Withdrawal from Courses

I have been dealing with chronic medical issues over the past several years, which have reached an acute status over the Winter session.

This has seriously interfered with my ability to maintain the required course load. My health has reached crisis proportions and I have been required to fly back to British Columbia where an existing medical team is already established for my care.

1. Appeal Application for Late Course Withdrawal

Due to these ongoing challenging issues, I have not been able to complete the course material for both Philosophy 270 and Religion 131. I have since returned back to British Columbia and my physician requires that I suspend my studies and withdraw from both of these classes due to the medical extenuating circumstances.

2. Aegrotat Appeal Application in lieu of final exams: Philosophy 275 and Philosophy 250

I have been able to fulfil the course requirements for the three remaining courses of the Winter Term. . However, the medical requirement to fly home on April 10, 2019 has left me with incomplete final exams for both Philosophy 250 and Philosophy 275.

I have emailed Dr, Jacqueline Davies, Philosophy 275, and she has responded that she would support an Aegrotat final grade of 70 percent for the course, in lieu of the final exam. I would kindly request an Aegrotat standing for this class.

I have also emailed Dr. Colin Farrelly, Philosophy 250, and have requested either additional course work or Aegrotat standing but I have yet to hear back from his office.

3. Continuation of Studies at Queen's University

It was offered a honours program at Queen¿¿s based on the strength of my strong high school standings and community advocacy work. This was achieved during a time I was in good health and it is my intention to be able to restore my health so my grades reflect my full capacity. Going toward, this can be achieved by reducing my course load per term and make an application for advanced accomodational standing.

During times of better health, I have been a positive contributor to Queen¿¿s community life by volunteering as a Gael, as a member of the WIIS Queen¿¿s organization, as well as an international student liaison.

I have attached a copy of my changed flights and a copy of the medical letter from Dr.. Marianna Smith. Please let me know if there is any further Information you required for these application. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Erika Pumple
