Academic Appeal
To whom it may concern,
(The Request) I am hereby writing this letter for an appealing to drop ENGL 237 as well as WRIT 265 (Winter, 2019) taught by Prof. Heather Evans and Martina Hardwick at Queen¿¿s University.
(Explanation of Extenuating Circumstances) when the semester first began, I was healthy and ready to take on the semester with optimism. I had just come out of the Fall semester with decent grades and was hopeful in moving on. However, as the weeks progressed, I began to experience a sudden and rapid decline in my mental health and have been struggling to cope. I was unable to focus on my readings and assignments thoroughly without unmotivating and discouraging thoughts circling my brain. I have been pursuing reasonable and professional counselling in order to focus on school, however, the search for adequate help has been rather difficult up until now.
My decline in mental health immediately began in early February. At this point, not many assignments were due or very challenging. However, my essays as well as my online discussions were directly affected later throughout the semester. Attending lectures was also difficult, however, the completion of assignments was ever more so as I was left alone with discouraging thoughts invading my academic thinking capabilities. I tried to remain focused in all my courses this semester but was more reluctant in the courses less effective to my major. It became increasingly difficult to find a healthcare professional available on a regular basis and I have had little luck in getting enough help and healing.
(Future plan) I have perseverance and do not wish to withdraw from any of my schooling as getting my degree is very important to me. Thus, I plan to retake ENGL 237 over the summer as well as WRIT 265 in the following year when it becomes available. I also plan to receive the counselling I need throughout the upcoming months during and after summer. I will receive regular sessions and meeting with a professional. I believe time is what I need most, and so the time given in the summer should enable me to ensure myself of healing.
Thank you for your consideration,
