Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am asking for Aegrogat standing in the five classes that I was enrolled in for the Winter 2019 term which are: BIOL 316, BIOL 334, ENSC 301, ITLN 112, and PHGY 170.

On April 5, 2019 my mother passed away very suddenly. Due to the circumstances of her death I have been unable to function under any kind of stress. Writing exams would mean having to sit and study for periods of time which is difficult for me to do. I worked extremely hard during the school year to obtain good grades and I feel that if I had to prepare for exams during this time I will not be able to apply myself in any way that reflects my normal approach to my studies.

Deferring the exams until a later date would only add further stress and anxiety to an already stressful situation. I need to take these months to heal after losing someone so important so I can return to Queen¿¿s in September as mentally and physically healthy as possible. I would like to finish off my final year on time and I feel I will not able to do so if I do not take time to grieve.
I am attending counseling and seeing my doctor to learn how to cope and I will continue to this throughout the summer.
