Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am appealing for a standing of CR in GEOL 362. I suffered a concussion on March 20th, which is after the drop deadline of March 1. I am graduating this semester, as such i needed to finish my courses before I graduate, which unfortunately for GEOL 362 that meant completing 60 of the course while I was suffering from the concussion. During the concussion I frequently saw doctors at Queen's Student Health who documented my concussion.

My professor informed me that she was going to be away for the months of May and June so that if I wanted to finish the course I needed to write before the end of April, when I was still suffering from the effects of the concussion.

My other courses were not as affected because I was able to deffer the final for another course until mid may (I had two more weeks to recover and had seen improvements from when I completed GEOL 362), another course did not have a final exam, but instead a final assignment that I was able to work on over the course of a few weeks and only needed to do a little bit at a time when i felt I was able too, unlike studying for a final exam. My first year course was not deferred as it was a course within my department that I am graduating from so a lot of the information I was review from past courses over time time at Queen's so i made due with out studying as much as I would have liked.

I did not do as well as I had hoped this semester, but GEOL 362 was all new material that required a lot of studying, memorization and understanding that i was unable to do at the time because of my concussion.
