Petition Letter: Associate Dean (Studies),

My name is Jenna Yurchi, I am a 4th year History major and Concurrent Education Student. I am appealing to drop RELS 214 and HIST 447 (Fall, 2014) and to have the failed marks taken off my transcript.
I am appealing to drop these classes because I have been affected by psychological challenges, that are out of my control, which have negatively affected my academic performance. Due to these psychological challenges I was unable to attend class and participate in in-class tests, assignments, and discussion. This ultimately gave me a failing mark that was unsalvageable.
These challenges occurred in the summer of 2014 and continued throughout the Fall semester. Throughout the semester I have been working with medical professionals and personal counselors who also aided in giving doctors notes for extending assignments in classes in which I am passing throughout the semester. RELS 214 did not accept doctor¿¿s notes and HIST 447 relied strictly on participation which I was not present to attain. Due to these circumstances these two marks suffered the most. I was able to attain class notes from friends in my other classes RELS 227 and HIST 246 and have been able to catch up from home by reading class lecture notes and readings. These classes are formatted in a way that requires less attendance to do well. Under theses circumstances my marks are suffering in RELS 214 and HIST 447.
