Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hello,

I would like to drop my WRIT125 course because I do not believe that I can complete the course to my satisfaction, or my professor's; this is my first semester of distance studies, and thought that I could do a full course load.

However, I started working full-time in November, and I did what I could to do my school work. Now, though, I realize that I bit off more than I can chew, and I do not believe that I can do quality work for the WRIT125 course. I would rather not have a bad grade affect my overall average because I do not have the time to put in the work because I am working to keep a roof over my head and be able to pay for University at the same time... The reason why I took distance studies was so that I could work. I just didn't know it would be this intense...

For next semestre, I have already reduced my course load so that I can provide higher quality work. I hope that I can finish this semester on a relatively good note, too. For that to happen, however, I need to drop this course. Personally, I hate having to do this. However, I see no other choice. Believe me, I have tried to find alternatives.

Please, I beg you to understand my plea.
