Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am writing to request a late appeal. In November of 2013, passed the deadline for voluntary withdrawal, I was unable to remain at Queen's due to health issues. I attended the health clinic on campus and had a supporting note submitted on my behalf. At the time, due to my health issues, my problem solving skills were impaired, and I thought that the note from the health clinic was all of the documentation that I would require to withdraw from my Spanish Span P10 course without receiving a failing grade. When I returned home to Winnipeg, I was focused on regaining my health, and did not think to recheck to see if I had been successfully withdrawn from my Spanish course within 21 days. It was several months later, when I was applying to the University of Manitoba, that I realized that my transcript did not indicate that I withdrew from Spanish but that I had failed Spanish.

I have now recovered my health and am a student at the University of Manitoba. I would like to pursue a graduate degree after I finish my Bachelor's degree. I am very concerned that this failing grade will negatively impact my future prospects. I am asking that I be granted a late appeal so that I can request that my transcript be changed to remove the F and instead indicate that I withdrew from Span P10 for health reasons.

This is very important to my future success. Your consideration of my circumstances would be appreciated.
