Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Hello, my name is Alana Lambert-Dias and I am making an appeal for a late drop from my Statistics 263 course due to extenuating circumstances.

I was diagnosed with depression as well as slight anxiety over the summer before this past semester, but due to difficulties with the school as I was not able to get any help on the matter before being examined by doctors on campus I was unable to be diagnosed or treated early enough. Because of this, I had difficulties attending classes and even after I had gotten accommodations, it was not useful in the true issue of my ability to get up and go to class.

Due to these issues I have failed the course, and since I have now begun the proper treatment for my mental illness I would like to appeal to drop the course so that I can retake it this upcoming year as it is required for my desired academic plan.

I have since been attending counselling appointments with Queens' Student Wellness and have had psychiatric assessment appointments with Dr. Welihinda who has provided me with a prescription for an anti-depressant so I believe this coming year I will be able to perform adequately if I were to be allowed to drop and retake this course.

Thank you for your time and I hope this information was concise and adequate enough and that it has given you much to consider on the matter,
Alana Lambert-Dias
