Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Jacob MacTaggart, I am appealing to drop the course Ancient Humour (CLST 205) and receive a DR on my transcript in its place.

I am currently enrolled in two online courses. Ancient humour was the elective I chose to do. Between work, some family issues and school work I decided that one course would be better suited to my current situation so I decided that I would drop Ancient humour in early-June. When I checked the relevant dates I mistakenly read that July 8th was the deadline to drop without academic penalty. I now realize that July 8th was, in fact, the financial deadline for the July ¿¿ August session and I am in the May-July wrong in two ways. I quite simply misinterpreted the information. The course, is an elective so I had neglected the course work to focus on my core course with the intent of dropping before the deadline of July 8th, which I now know was June 28th and I missed it. At this point I have missed several deadlines for heavily weighted assignments in the course and my standing in the course is not salvageable. I have one semester¿¿s worth of classes to complete before I graduate and if this course was to stay as a fail on my transcript it would set me back significantly. I would be willing to contact the instructor of the course if needed but seeing as this is an online course I don¿¿t see how much value this would have as I do not know the instructor personally. if there is any other information that I can provide I would be more than happy to do so.

Thanks,
Jacob MacTaggart
