Petition Letter: To Whom it May Concern,

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I am requesting that I be allowed to drop ECON 110 after the deadline.

I am a player with t4h Kingston Frontenacs Hockey Club. When I selected ECON 110 I did not have the complete schedule for the year from the club. Also, late in the summer there were events added to my schedule that were not anticipated.

First, I had acceptable a tryout with the Los Angles Kings Hockey Team. This was finalized later in the summer and I was required to fly to LA on September 9th. My stay with the club was longer than expected and I missed the first two weeks of class at Queens. This immediately set me behind. From there the regular team practice and games schedule continued to present challenges. The required time for on and off ice practice, video sessions and personal appearances was proving to be too much. In addition, we have out of town games that have taken the team away for days at a time that have further complicated managing my class work. In all I believe I have missed over 10 classes this term. Next term I do not expect this schedule to be much better and with playoff coming up, the schedule can become more erratic and unmanageable.

In hindsight the best plan of action would have been to with to another class, perhaps in the evening, or drop ECON 110 within he drop window. I felt things would fall into a routine and that I would be able to manage things.

While it is late, I would like to drop ECON 110 in its entirety so this single poor performance does not remain on my transcript. I will evaluate the winter plan for hockey and decide if another class would fit appropriately with hockey so I can balance both commitments.
