Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
My name is Charlie Slaney and I am currently starting my fifth year at Queen's University. I am appealing to drop PHIL 382 (Space-Time Matter and Reality due to circumstances beyond my control. I am currently recovering from a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) which I sustained on March 23rd, 2017 in a motor vehicle/pedestrian accident. I still suffer several debilitating symptoms of this injury such as frequent panic attacks, severe migraines, PTSD symptoms, dizziness spells, an extreme lack of energy, and an ability to concentrate. This affected my ability to concentrate on and complete the readings that were being frequently assigned in my classes. Due to my constant fatigue and anxiety, I struggled to participate and focus in class, or during completion of assignments. I was also unable to keep up with assignment deadlines due to my lack of energy, and frequent head aches. I would be very grateful if you would consider my extenuating circumstances and allow me to drop this course. I made efforts towards treatment in counselling, speech language pathology, doctor's visits, and disability accommodations. The treatment was not significant enough to to change my symptoms.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I look forward to hearing from you,
Charlie Slaney
