Petition Letter: Hello,
I would like to appeal to drop one of my courses past the academic deadline. I have visited with a number of mental health counsellors here at Queen's, many of which I have visited as my condition (Borderline Personality Disorder) has been worsening. Due to my worsening symptoms, it has become increasingly difficult to keep up with my academics. I have managed my best in all of my classes but ECON 111 has been a class I have struggled with since I started it. I have tried my best, but this class has left me with a lot of stress and dropping this class would cause me great relief from my condition. I believe that staying in this class would not lead to my success but instead would lead to further worsening of my mental health. This extenuating circumstance has led to a decrease in my academic success, including attending classes and academic performance. I have been dealing with this for years, but since I arrived at Queen's I have spoken with many counsellors and two of them have mentioned appealing for a late drop if it would benefit me and I believe it will.
Thank you,
Anna
