Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Hello,
I have been suffering with mental health issues on and off for little over three years and unfortunately this school term things got hard. I just came off of an amazing summer working at the Bank of Montreal and was in great spirits coming into the school year. I had such high expectations for myself and this school year because as i'm sure you have seen, I had a similar situation occur at the end of winter term last year. These high expectations ended up hurting me in the long-run. When my issues started to come back I was in denial and kept on pushing things away. I convinced my self that I was in a good place even though deep down I knew I was spiralling out of control again. These expectations were shattered and I honestly felt like such a failure honestly I still do even now as I'm writing this letter. My first step at reaching out was obtaining a therapist in Kingston on Friday, November 1st. That night I was in a very dark place and I made a phone call to my dad at 2 in the morning and opened up to him about my returning struggles . He drove up and got me at 6am Saturday morning. He demanded I packed my bags and come back home to Mississauga for the weekend. That weekend I went and saw a doctor to try and get a formal diagnosis, He diagnosed me with moderate/severer depression and recommended I started some sort of medication. This has impacted my academics in many ways, I spent most of my days sleeping and would rarely leave the house. I fell behind early on in the semester and every time i even thought about school I would hate my self for basically giving up. I know I should of dropped these courses earlier and I should have learnt from last semester but my academics were the last thing on my mind and for this I apologize. November 12th my parents came back up to kingston to get me for the term and I have been back home for the month focusing on my health. I am still in discussion with my doctor, therapists, and parents about my plans for winter term because at this point it is a little unclear. I also would like to apologize for not submitting this earlier, the idea of even writing this letter was something that worried me and I have unfortunately been putting it off. As of right now i'm starting to see improvements with the medication I started and I do hope to return to school in the Winter Term but my health is obviously a priority.
