Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,

I am appealing my enrollment in the course Film 303 for this term, Fall 2019. Upon enrolling in online studies, it was my understanding that there was a pre-requisite course for this course, which I would not be taking until Winter 2020, and assumed that I would not be enrolled until I had the pre-requisite, or permission from the instructor, and I have neither.

Once I accepted my offer, I did not have time to check my courses or enrollment status as I am a new full-time teacher in British Columbia and have been dealing with family matters such as marriage and a first-time pregnancy. I only realized when I logged onto onQ today (December 20) that I am enrolled in Film 303. It will not be possible for me to catch up with the work required in this course so that I may pass with an acceptable grade at this point in the year.

I request to be allowed to drop this course on the grounds that I was not aware I was enrolled in this course without the permission of the instructor, and no such alert was sent to me to inform me I had been enrolled in the course without obtaining permission.
