Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern, my name is Victoria Morrison and I am a first year student enrolled in the Music 171 course in the fall 2019 semester. I failed to submit my final essay assignment which acted as a final exam, making up a total of 35 of my overall mark. After contacting my professor, Robbie MacKay, about this issues, he informed me I will be receiving a 0 on the assignment. However, I do not feel this is fair because I completed the assignment a day before the due date and can provide proof of this through the time stated on my word document. The assignment was due at 6:00pm and with the overload of stress I was experiencing during my first university exam period, my thoughts were elsewhere and I tried to submit the assignment around 8:00pm and the drop box was closed. I understand that it is my responsibility to hand my assignment in on time and like all my other courses, partial marks are received when deadline are not met. Therefore I don¿¿t feel it is fair that I am receiving a 0 on an assignment weighted at 35. I put a lot of effort into the assignment and had it completed before the date due. I hope you are able to take this into consideration.
