Petition Letter: Hello,
I am looking to drop HIST 400-001, instead of it being an incomplete grade on my transcript. The wintertime is usually very hard to manage with my eating disorder. I notice that since I am inside more, I am more likely to binge, which results in a binge and purge cycle. This makes me too ashamed and embarrassed to leave the house and interact with other people; thus, I missed several classes. There were also a lot of financial issues in the home, which led to a lot of aggression by my father, and him blaming me for wanting to leave my mother. I also was involved in an abusive relationship. At one point, I lost the will to live. Last semester I also finally was able to receive legitimate treatment from Hotel Dieu hospital for my eating disorder as received a valid diagnosis. The medication that I was put on has both significantly increased my happiness and ability to beat my disease. I also attend weekly group meetings. I am proud to say that although I have struggled with this for nine years that I have completed over a month living without bulimia. Although I can complete the course, I am nervous that an extensive course load will cause a lot of stress and trigger my bulimia again. Therefore I feel like it would be best to drop the course so I can try to adjust to my new lifestyle.
