Petition Letter: Return to study
My name is Yingzhi (Jason) Liang, I am requesting approval for returning to study after completing a 3-year withdrawal. Over the past three years I have attempted a variety of fields of study and work, these opportunities gave me valuable experiences that I will be applying to my study at Queen¿¿s.
The first year after returning is to increase my overall GPA score with the following study plan. After increasing my GPA, I will apply for Economics Major and retake previously failed courses with at most dedication.
Summer 2020:
ECON-111, FREN-106, CISC-102 May-July term.
WRIT-120, ENIN-140 July-August term
FALL 2020:
ECON-112, MATH-126(linear course), STAT-263, GLPH-271, Language Course
WINTER 2020:
MATH-126(linear course), HLTH-102, Language Course, MUSC-104
Over the past three years, I have taken my opportunities to improve myself in all directions. During 2017-2018, I spent my time in Guangzhou, China learning entrepreneur management by working in a development company. During that time, I studied under every department manager such as, Finance, Public Relations, Management, Development, to learn techniques and their experiences over their working career. From there I found ¿¿truth¿ and ¿¿reasons¿, doing group projects was to train our leadership and co-operating skills, math is a way of thinking rather than a method to solve equations, studying economics is to understand how the world functions. In 2018 I returned to Canada and started a small construction company with my father, this was my decision and plan for the future. My first project was in, Markham, Ontario, assembling a team to build our family¿¿s new house. I spent months designing the architectural drawings with the architect, managing workers, and hiring contractors, hands-on working, every bit was a learning opportunity for me to further improve myself. From this project, I realized that I am still far from what I am capable of. I had to continue my studies in university, not only to acquire a diploma but to explore the ¿¿way of learning¿ new skills. After spending three years in society, I have further developed my management, critical thinking and many other aspects than a student who just graduated high school will. Seeing the difficulty and responsibility that an adult undertakes has changed me forever and better prepared me for higher education.
