Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I was unable to submit an appeal within the 21 day deadline due to mental health reasons. I did not write my exam in PHAR270 in April 2017 because I was dealing with an untreated illness. I was very impulsive and disorganized in my thinking. I also became homeless shortly after receiving a failing grade because of my disorganized thinking. I was not thinking about school because of my mental health illness. I couldn¿¿t plan for the future at all and couldn¿¿t think clearly. I was later hospitalized that summer. School was not the focus for me, merely surviving was. I was very ill. Now I¿¿m stable and on medication I would like to submit an appeal to waive the 21 day deadline and then another appeal to rewrite my final exam. This exam is the last one I need to get my 3 year degree.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Lyons

Amendment to Appeal 6765

Petition Type: 2

Relevant Petition: 6765
New Information: During the winter of 2017 I was ill with untreated schizoaffective disorder. I was able to keep up in the course but was having issues in the early spring. I was having delusions, and disorganized thoughts which eventually led to a housing problem. The stress of losing housing made my symptoms
worse. I was unable to write the exam and not thinking clearly enough to contact anybody. I was later hospitalized in Vancouver. I appealed to write my exam the next year but again was off my medication and having delusions, impulsive thoughts and disorganized thinking. I, again, didn¿¿t write the final exam due to my symptoms and also was too ill to contact anybody to try and deal with the situation. I was hospitalized in July. I am asking to appeal to drop PHAR270 so I can have an incomplete grade rather than an F on my transcript. I request to drop late because I have been in recovery and was mentally ill at the time of the final exam as well as during the course. Thank you.
