Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am appealing to drop winter 2020 term courses as I have missed the June 10th deadline. The reason for this appeal is due to extenuating familial and psychological challenges that have had a negative impact on the final grades for these courses. These issues peaked at the end of March and persisted throughout the rest of the semester. These personal issues have resulted in un-submitted assignments and overall failure to meet the academic requirements necessary to succeed within these classes.

For context: I come from a culture where mental health issues are not taken seriously. Throughout my university career I have struggled when facing various obstacles due to having an inadequate support system. These issues ultimately peaked during the 2020 winter semester, along with family issues that left my without the strength and motivation to focus on my studies. I take complete responsibility in not reaching out, but I just did not know where to start.

I am now trying to take responsibility for my inactions and turn myself around. I am beginning to take steps such as reach out to health professionals and create the necessary support systems to help me succeed. Unfortunately this means I do not have proper documentation at this time but am willing to discuss further and hope this appeal is considered. Thank you.
