Petition Letter

Petition Letter: During the summer of 2019 I was enrolled in 2 summer courses, that year at Queens was an extremely tough year, it started with me getting injured before even starting football and being out of that, followed by one of my close friends passing away suddenly and me finding out in the middle of a class, and then the constant fact that my dad has ALS and that year while I was at Queens was the toughest of all because he began to truly deteriorate faster. All of that in my first 3 months at queens really put a damper on the rest of my year and it didn¿¿t stop. I got injured 2 other times with the same injury as the first (a torn hamstring) and the situation with my dad never got better. On top of that I had been living in a poorly lit single room at West campus 1 km from any friends I had at Queens. It was a truly terrible year especially after coming off a great year at Trinity the year before. Everything seemed to go bad for me and it didn¿¿t stop even up to summer time. I¿¿m not trying to make excuses, I am usually a very well adjusted and happy person, but the pressures of that year really got to me and it was too much for me to handle. My family doctor, before starting to see a psychologist, had determined that I was suffering from situational depression. I started seeing Dr. Yaniv Elharrar who is an amazing psychologist and has helped me immeasurably. I have supporting documents/letters from both doctors if needed. Because I owe Queens for the 2 courses that I never took, and didn¿¿t drop them on time, my account is blocked. I am filing this appeal in the hopes of receiving an exemption and having those fees reversed. I am in a much better place now and believe that my carelessness with deadlines at the time were simply a result of my state of mind. I am hopeful this will work out, not only because I wish to move forward academically, but because this is a huge financial strain for me and for my mom. Thank you for your consideration.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: Should my appeal be granted, it will give me access to my transcript therefore allowing me to move forward with applications (albeit very last minute). My resolve is to continue working hard on myself with the help of the doctor following me. I believe I can achieve the success that experienced at Trinity College School if given a chance.
