Petition Letter: Hello, Dear Associate Dean¿

My name is Yufei Guo, my student number is 20025503, I am appealing to Waive the 21-Day Deadline for RTW3.

My main goal is to reduce the length of my RTW3 for earlier enrollment, so the first thing I need to do is apply waive the deadline. The start date of my RTW3 is 2019/05/21, which is more than a year from now. There are two main reasons for not submitting an appeal for such a long time: my mental state, and my own condition.

Regarding the first point, it was actually my own psychological problems, my study and life were a mess, I didn¿¿t know what I was doing every day. Although I know that I have not been under much pressure other than studying, the burden on my heart is still very heavy, even I know I did not study hard I still feel very tired. And It¿¿s not like I have a carefree happy life, more likely I would study all night on the eve of the exam but cannot learn anything. This creates a vicious circle, I have a really high expectations of myself, but this is unrealistic, so when I can't complete the goals I set up I get stressed and give up on myself, until the next time to go through these things all over again. I can understand then and now that it was a self-defeating circle that couldn't be solved by a simple mood adjustment. So RTW was also a relief for me at the time, because with my personality, without the school decision, I would definitely try for another year, and the result is obviously going to be a waste of time. In addition, there were a lot of complicated emotions mixed in, such as being very disappointed in myself, feeling guilty about the people around me, etc. so I didn't even think about to waive the three-year withdraw arrangement.

The second point is that at that time I was not in a good position to continue studying at Queen¿¿s, either psychologically or practically. I didn't have a good study status and plan, and I had been RTW for a year before, so I had no hope of appealing, but chose to go to Niagara College to study business instead. Now I am filing an appeal at this time because I think my conditions can allow me to return to Queen¿¿s. First of all, my two-year diploma in NC will end in one semester. I have received three semesters of grades as additional information. Secondly, my mental state has been adjusted to be more optimistic and positive, and I have developed study habits. The most important thing is that I have a calmer mind now and have plans and goals for the future.

Therefore, I believe that no matter what the outcome of the final appeal of waive RTW is going to be, I should give it a try. Because Queen¿¿s has always been a knot of my heart and is the university I want to go to the most, so I hope I could get an opportunity to appeal for waive of RTW. Looking forward to being approved.
