Petition Letter: I wish to appeal my NSCI 499 grade as I believe the poster presentation mark of 57 is incorrect. I believe this as all of my other grades in this course are 80 or better in addition to the fact that I have received NO FEEDBACK at all in regards to any of my winter term marks. This being a thesis course worth 12 credits and with 2 mistakes already having been made calculating/submitting my mark I would like a review of my mark for the poster presentation and feedback to be provided for my final report. I was shocked to see my poster mark of 57 and after taking some time to think about my grade I think this is most likely a clerical error. Assuming it is a clerical error, I've calculated my final mark based on the estimate of 15.5/20 on the presentation to be 84.5 overall which I assume would be rounded up to an 85 shifting my overall mark from A- to A. I am currently applying to medical schools and this mark has a profound impact on my competitiveness for admission. I believe the 21 day restriction on appeals should be removed as I repeatedly contacted Dr Michael Kawaja starting in May through to the end of August and Associate Dean of Life Sciences Dr. Louise Winn to be able access feedback on my grades in this course to no avail. Dr Winn suggested I begin this appeal process if I still failed to receive feedback and believe there is an issue with my mark.
