Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Greetings,

I studied at Queen's 2 years ago but had to take a break from academics due to mental health issues and went abroad. I came back this summer and decided to finish my studies at Queen's and called the office back in August. I was told to fill out a return to studies form, and had to wait almost 2 weeks before I was able to select courses on SOLUS, by which time it was already September. I was able to successfully enrol in 3 courses, and was put on the waiting list for two others (which are the courses I'm trying to appeal for a late add right now). I finally found housing in Kingston in the week of September 14th, and officially moved back on September 19th. However, where the housing company put me under the impression that internet was readily available at my residence, I found out after that it was not actually set up, and it took my till middle of last week to get internet working properly. Before this time I was only able to find a payment deadline for courses, but not a selection deadline, and by the time I had internet it was past the selection deadline. That is why I would sincerely like to appeal for a late course addition for the two courses I was on waiting list for, or if they are both full I would like to add another course that I would have to consider for right now. I can also send picture proof of my move-in date back to Kingston or chat records for setting up the internet if necessary. I truly appreciate your time for considering my request and contacting any professors needed, and this means so much to me as I would like to finish my degree at a pace faster than only three courses this semester. Thank you so much

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: I previously suffered from depression from 2015-2018, which heavily impacted my ability to learn and properly take courses at Queen's. I decided to change up the environment and worked abroad for two years, during which time I went through therapy sessions and also recovered a lot from the work I did, to a point where I felt prepared to finish my degree, which is why I returned to Canada, and Kingston recently. Now that I'm in a better spot than before, I would really like to catch up to some of my old friends and peers by finishing a degree that I should have finished a few years back, which is why I would really like to take at least 4 to 5 courses per semester and not drag my degree completion too much beyond, so I would be able to finish in hopefully 2-3 years. Unfortunately the aforementioned unforeseen circumstances came in my way and I was only able to pick 3 courses for the fall semester. Once again, I truly appreciate your time and consideration for my request, and I look forward to hearing back from you. Thank you and have a fantastic day
