Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I'm writing to the Associate Dean's office today with a sense of shame and regret regarding the state of my mental health that has become an issue I have taken responsible steps to treat. Although not directly related to COVID, I was only made aware of my symptoms needing clinical attention once I landed at Queen's and as a result of behaviour I am not proud of. It has taken serious thought on my end, and most importantly a thorough analysis of what I have to do in order to change my life, and maybe even keep it. This requires me to focus on baby steps at this time. It demands a lot of time and attention to detail at a personal and individual level, but also in with the guidance of professional help.
For this reason, I cannot commit to school at this moment in my life. This letter does not mean that I intend to or am stating that I would like to drop out of school in it's entirety and give up. It just means the traditional path and engaging in stressful situations at this moment is not going to help me reach a point of self healing and mental wellbeing. This is why I was unable to focus and perform in my courses to date. it's unfortunate because I wish I came to Queen's at 18, a younger adult, then maybe those developmental years would have shaped m differently, but at 28 years old, I carry a lot of issues I need to work on, and I can't take courses or make up exams because i just can't think clearly enough at this moment.
I am requesting an aggregate grade due to unwell mental state of mind, as evidenced in my pscyh 100 course, and as evidenced by my behaviour and doctors not already submitted to the school.
I also would like to take responsibility for my actions and behaviour, and reinforce here that I am in fact focused on solving or bettering these problems, and showing up again in a more healthy way, when I can.
May I please request an aggregate grade for BIOL 102 (Biology of cells)
if not, then may I get refund so I can use those funds to fund my mental health therapy (since it costs 250/ hr from a clinical psychologist, I really would like the refund if an aggregate mark cannot happen)
i am requesting a refund for the following subjects as I was unable to perform due to mental health:
- CISC101
-COGS100
- Shereen Anis
